Hope on the Streets: How God Turned a Difficult Moment Into Ministry

A month ago, we faced an unexpected and difficult moment after my wife had just finished with their Rosary along with a group of other women. Instead of anger, we chose to pray for the person and hold onto hope. It was a tough moment, but it also brought growth.

Through the St. Michael's Lent journey that I was going through at that time, I learned to let go and trust - there's always a lesson in challenging circumstances, at the same time, a lot of tests when you intentionally do St. Michael's Lent. I fell a lot but also went back to the powerful sacrament of Confession. It was a test to see if I would still be willing to serve the less fortunate and pray with them (the incident took place in the same area we planned an outreach).

Thankfully, the incident did not break our spirits. We proceeded with our outreach activity. It was also the first time my wife and I did street ministry. It was humbling, praying with the homeless and seeing how moved they were with simple words of prayer, hope and God. If I had given up because of that window incident, then the devil would have won, and nothing would have been learned from it but resentment and anger. Grateful for the lessons and seeking ways to continue serving others with love and compassion. St. Michael, pray for us.
