Music Ministry at the Cathedral

Music for weekend masses at the Cathedral is comprised of Cantor and organ at the Saturday 4:00pm, Sunday 10:00 am and and Sunday 5:30pm Masses. The Cathedral Choir leads worship at the Sunday noon Mass, singing liturgically appropriate anthems in addition to the hymns, psalms and service music.

The Cathedral Choir is looking to add members. The choir sings music in 4 parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass), and rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm and 11:30am Sundays before mass. While some of the music is more complex, training and support is available for those who would like to participate.

We would love to have more participation in the musical life of the Cathedral at all Masses, with representation from all ages, stages and backgrounds that make up our vibrant Cathedral community. In addition to regular members, we are also looking for Cantors to lead the singing at services. Our Cantors sing from the choir loft at the back of the church and training and guidance is available .

We would also like to add more instruments to the liturgies; if you are a musician, consider sharing your gifts with the congregation in preludes (before services), postludes (at the end of services) and during Masses accompanying hymns or playing at the offertory. Violins, guitars, cellos, flutes, and other wind instruments would be welcome. Accompaniment would be supplied for any soloists or groups.

If you are interested in any of the musical possibilities at the Cathedral, please contact the Music Director, Richard Kidd at    (506)6507794, or   richard.kidd@immaculateconception.ca
